Tom's Beef Stew

COOK:
~10 min meat, 2.5 hours for stew
INGREDIENTS
2lb stew meat
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 cups water
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1-3 cloves garlic, peeled
1-2 bay leaves
3 large carrots, sliced
2 Tbsp corn starch (optional)
1 onion, small/med, sliced
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
Dash of Allspice
3 ribs celery, chopped
4-6 small russet potatoes, diced
INSTRUCTIONS
Brown meat in oil, place meat and juice in a large pot.
Add water, worcestershire, onion, salt, sugar, pepper, paprika, and allspice.
Place garlic and bay leaves in spice ball and place in pot.
Cover and simmer 1.5 hours; Add water as desired.
Rmoeve spice ball, add carrots and celery.
Cover and simmer ~30 minutes
Add potatoes and simmer 20-30 minutes.
To thicken, mix 1/4 cup water with cornstarch and add to pot.
Cook until bubbly and serve.
